Today, we’re announcing Early Access for Axonius Cyber-Physical Assets (CPA), a new capability that brings cyber-physical environments into the Axonius platform, extending the power of Axonius Cyber Assets beyond traditional IT.

Across operational environments, organizations now run thousands of connected devices that support critical operations, from industrial systems running manufacturing lines to medical devices used in patient care.

These cyber-physical assets often operate under very different constraints than traditional IT systems. Many cannot run security agents. Some cannot tolerate intrusive scanning. Others operate on proprietary protocols or legacy operating systems. As a result, they frequently sit outside traditional security visibility, creating blind spots in asset inventory and risk management.

Security teams are left asking basic questions: What devices actually exist across operational networks? Where are they located? Without clear answers, organizations cannot fully understand their attack surface. Security teams may gain visibility into devices themselves, but they still struggle to connect that information to the broader environment. 

They may know that a vulnerable device exists, but not how it relates to applications, identities, or other systems. They may detect unusual communication patterns, but lack the broader context needed to prioritize risk.

That’s why we built Axonius Cyber-Physical Assets as an extension of the Axonius platform. CPA brings cyber-physical devices into the Axonius Asset Cloud, connecting them to the same asset graph that already correlates IT and cloud infrastructure, SaaS and software inventories, and identity, vulnerability, and security control data.

When cyber-physical systems are included in this graph, organizations gain something they’ve rarely had before: context. Teams can see not just that a device exists, but how it relates to applications, networks, vulnerabilities, and operational systems across the environment. This allows organizations to move from simple visibility to true asset intelligence.

How Axonius CPA works: Discovery, fingerprinting, correlation

Axonius CPA helps organizations extend their asset visibility into cyber-physical environments safely and at scale. CPA discovers connected devices through passive network monitoring combined with selective identification techniques, allowing teams to identify devices without relying on agents or disruptive scanning.

The platform builds a detailed device inventory through deep fingerprinting and classification, collecting over 150 device attributes and rich metadata such as vendor, model, firmware, operating system, communication protocols, and operational role.

Axonius then correlates this information within the Axonius Asset Cloud to create a unified view of cyber-physical assets alongside traditional IT assets. From there, organizations can begin to understand how these devices interact across the network, identifying communication relationships and dependencies. CPA uses this information to surface devices presenting elevated risk, such as those running outdated firmware, insecure protocols, or known vulnerabilities.

Because Axonius integrates this intelligence into the Asset Cloud, teams can incorporate cyber-physical insights directly into their existing security workflows, automation processes, and reporting frameworks.

Once cyber-physical assets are in the Asset Cloud, teams can begin making decisions — rather than just cataloging devices. Map device communication patterns to understand which systems talk to each other before enforcing segmentation policies, so you're working from real traffic, not assumptions.

CPA also surfaces vulnerabilities, insecure configurations, and exposure indicators across operational systems. Teams can prioritize remediation based on what's actually running, not just what's technically vulnerable, especially where downtime isn't an option.

And because the platform integrates with ITSM tools and automation workflows, cyber-physical intelligence feeds directly into the processes security teams already use. No separate console, no parallel workflow.
