How Gigamon Unlocked AWS Visibility with Axonius

Gigamon was born to solve complexity. Its deep observability pipeline powers secure, real-time traffic insights for organizations navigating the chaos of modern networks. But inside its own growing operations, Gigamon’s security team ran into a familiar problem: a lack of visibility, especially across its AWS cloud environments.

As Chief Security Officer Chaim Mazal puts it, “Having real-time clarity into our environments as we continue to build out our products was essential, and Axonius helps us achieve this.”

Mazal needed a way to unify the view across SaaS, on-prem, and—most importantly—AWS infrastructure. The goal wasn’t just better security. It was enabling fast, confident decisions at scale.

Gigamon’s security team had visibility into SaaS apps, but everything beyond that, particularly cloud assets, was murky. While AWS powered key services and innovation, Mazal’s team couldn’t easily correlate data from cloud workloads, identity systems, and security tools like Amazon GuardDuty. Context was fragmented. Tooling coverage was unclear. Without a centralized, real-time picture, security decisions were made with incomplete information. Redundancies stayed hidden. And leadership lacked the confidence that their growing cloud infrastructure was truly under control.

Mazal’s vision was simple but critical: unify the view of all assets, connect the dots across environments, and reduce the friction that slows down innovation. But existing tools weren’t built for the scale or complexity Gigamon had to manage.

As Gigamon accelerated its cloud-first roadmap, the stakes grew. Assets multiplied. New accounts and services were spun up rapidly. But each new addition widened the gap in visibility. The security team couldn’t answer fundamental questions:

• Which AWS assets are at risk?

• What vulnerabilities has GuardDuty flagged across environments?

• Are security tools consistently deployed across instances?

• What are we missing that could be exploited?

“We needed to know what tooling was present and what wasn’t—across all cloud environments,” Mazal says. “That’s how you reduce risk and move fast.”

The inability to unify data with other systems created cascading risks:

• Security tools weren’t evenly deployed

• Vulnerability findings were difficult to correlate

• Data remained in silos, making it hard to identify coverage gaps

• Proving value and control to leadership became a challenge

Mazal knew that if visibility into assets continued to lag behind, Gigamon could miss critical exposures, or waste time and resources chasing false alarms.

Mazal knew the risks of inaction weren’t theoretical, they were immediate and tangible. Gigamon deployed the Axonius Cybersecurity Asset Management Platform, with a specific focus on AWS visibility and integration.

Axonius made it possible to:

• Combine asset data from AWS services with insights from other environments

• Automatically ingest vulnerability findings from Amazon GuardDuty

• Unify real-time views of EC2 instances, S3 buckets, IAM roles, and more

• Identify security tooling coverage across AWS and flag gaps

• Correlate cloud infrastructure with identities, devices, and software

• Create dynamic dashboards that provide actionable insights across stakeholders

“Axonius gives us a clear picture of how much coverage for security tooling exists across various environments, including systems on-premises and across different cloud providers,” Mazal says.

Axonius’s out-of-the-box AWS adapters helped the security team track agent health, spot unprotected assets, and map every cloud instance to ownership and context. Data from Amazon GuardDuty was no longer a silo, it was a strategic asset.
