I’ve always found it funny (and a little backwards) that Giving Tuesday comes after a week of stuffing yourself silly and rushing out to the stores (or now, behind your computer) for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. While the movement of Giving Tuesday has the best intentions, it seems to fade into the tiredness of the Thanksgiving holiday and the excitement of Christmas.
So, we had a thought: why not celebrate doing good every day?
A few months back, our CEO, Dean Sysman, had the opportunity to meet with Steph Curry, point guard for the Golden State Warriors and six-time NBA All-Star. They talked about Steph and Ayesha Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation., and this newly formed friendship inspired us to instill a principle of giving back in our company.
How Axonius is Giving Back
Our first initiative is a way of showing thanks to those who want to learn more about Axonius. As a thank you, when security professionals raise their hands to get to know us a bit better, we’re making two donations on their behalf: one to the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, and one to a charity of their choice.
Our second initiative will be coupled with RSA Conference in San Francisco this coming February. I’m sure we can all relate to walking tradeshow floors and grabbing all sorts of tchotchkes, only to realize there’s no need or space for them for the journey home, and promptly tossing them in the trash. As an alternative to perpetuating this cycle of tradeshow swag, visitors to our booth (#3102) at the RSA Conference will walk away with a donation in their name to the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation and a reusable ‘Instead of Swag’ tote bag.
We’ve already launched a philanthropic component to our existing marketing campaigns and will incorporate this spirit of giving as we plan for 2020. It’s a challenge we’re excited to tackle: extending the spirit of Giving Tuesday beyond today to every day.
